"Westjail" - Chapter 1

“Girl” Rukhaya Singleton stated, “my party is gonna be ‘the bomb’! Everybody gon’ be there. I even invited yo’ boy, Larry.”

“Don’t even go there,” Lakeisha said, quickly adding, “look, I gotta go meet somebody. Bye.”

“Probably Larry” Rukhaya, or Rue for short, joked.

“Hey Rukhaya,” Melodie Benford greeted as she walked on to join her friends.

However, in another group
“Girl, did you see Kejuana at that dance, Saturday. That girl did more popping than a Independence Day parade.” That was Heather Johnson’s voice. “She know she didn’t need to be dancing like that…there go that little hoochie right there.”

“Hey ya’ll,” Kejuana said, “what’s up?”

“Nothing much, we were just talking about the dance.” Christy Malbrew informed her.

“Oh, Kejuana, that outfit you had on at the dance was ‘off the hook’!” Heather commented.

“Thank you girl, I gotta go find Stephen to talk about our report, I’ll see ya’ll later.”

“Hoochie” Heather whispered.

“She didn’t look hoochie,” Monica Clark stated.

“Anyway,” Heather argued.

Suddenly, Stephanie Kocher screamed.

“What’s wrong with you,” Michael Drew asked. Then Austin Gunning peeked his head in. He was the closest to the Band Building; he asked the same question as Michael.

“Look.” She stated and in an instant, they panicked too.

“Oh my god, that’s Rue.” Michael screamed.

“Oh, man! We gotta go get somebody” Austin began, but certain ‘somebodies’ were already there.

“Is she dead?” Stephanie asked making a lot of the kids standing there give her a ‘stupid slap’, because they all saw the knife; there was only a quarter of its length not in the body. Millions of screams followed her question as more and more kids gathered around the building. The sirens cut through their shouts as the police finally arrived – you’d think in this kind of neighborhood, the cops could’ve shown up before she was officially dead. I guess Krispy Kreme’s ‘Hot Doughnuts Now’ sign wasn’t plugged up. When the cops did get there and trudged towards the building, what they feared had occurred…A juvenile homicide. They called off the paramedics and interrogated Stephanie, Austin, and Mike, and even Ms. Hunt about the incident. Well, one thing was for sure; she was stabbed to death. But the funny thing was, no one heard screaming and there was no sign of a struggle. Who could’ve done something this brutal…? And why didn’t the killings stop just there?
